Electrician I – Utilities Distribution

The Department of Facilities, Planning, and Management at Iowa State University is currently seeking applicants for an Electrician I who will install, maintain, and repair various electrical systems/equipment that are part of the electrical distribution systems throughout campus. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable in electrical/electronic theory, terminology, and practices, and National Electrical Code (NEC); possesses practical experience in installation of electrical systems. This position requires reading and interpretation of construction documents and schematic or block diagrams; use of basic hand and power tools; use of electrical and electronic equipment; operation of light and medium duty vehicles and machinery, including aerial lifts. This position also requires the ability to communicate effectively, professionally and positively with others.
Requires State of Iowa Class A or B Journeyman Electrician licenses. Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet University’s Fleet Safety Program.
-Commercial/industrial and three-phase electrical experience as an electrician.
-Experience with electrical controls.
-Experience using electrical system testing and diagnostic equipment.
-Experience installing and troubleshooting class 1 and class 2 electrical systems.
-Experience working out of an aerial bucket lift.
